Madagascar

  • Baobabs trees lining dirt road in Madagascar on cloudy day

Unspoilt and uncrowded, Madagascar is the land of the ‘blue safari’ – where snorkelling, diving and sailing in the warm turquoise waters is only paused for a bit of lemur spotting.

Unspoilt and uncrowded, Madagascar is the land of the ‘blue safari’ – where snorkelling, diving and sailing in the warm turquoise waters is only paused for a bit of lemur spotting.

A romance between thrill and respite makes this island a playground in paradise. Sugar sand beaches provide the perfect counterbalance to dusty game drives. Seducing with the promise of whiling away hours beneath an umbrella to the soundtrack of lapping waves. It’s those same waves that hold a promise of their own though. In the world below, an abundance of exotic marine life crowds the colourful coral reefs. While on the surface, sleek yachts or ancient dhows drift along the picturesque coastlines of private islands, like the idyllic Nosy Ankao.

From this vantage point it’s easy to see where else there is to be explored back on land. Beyond the beaches, Madagascar is an island of remarkable contrasts. With the likes of verdant rainforests teeming with wildlife, volcanic mountains and vast deserts calling out to those who aren’t quite ready to leave the excitement behind.
