Sabi Sands Nature Reserve - Benguerra Island

Dusty deserts and
glistening shores

From bushveld to beach, the duality of this classic trip has finally come close to fulfilling the lifelong quest to find the best of both worlds.

The power couple of touring trips, even the most seasoned of adventurers can’t resist the lure of unwinding on soft sand after a few days of early morning safaris. Starting in South Africa’s first private nature reserve, Sabi Sands, conservation rubs shoulders with exclusive experiences interspersed with game drives in pursuit of the likes of giraffes, zebras and the Big Five – especially leopards.

Leaving the savannah behind, the jewel-bright waters surrounding Benguerra Island off the coast of Mozambique come into view from the window of a helicopter. Though generous with its relaxation time, wildlife isn’t left to play second fiddle. Snorkelling unearths a world of psychedelic marine life, sailing the nearby isles increases chances of spotting an endangered dugong, and humpback whales swim by on their migration route.
