When the transfer from the airstrip turns into a game drive, you know Tarangire National Park will deliver the goods. Home to one of the largest populations of elephants in East Africa (a modest 3,000), it’s also where Elewana Treetops resides. Days here are taken up with intimate bush walks with the local Maasai and enjoying a tipple in the lounge bar while the animals do the same in the watering hole below. And come sunset, nocturnal night drives reveal the action after dark before settling down to sleep among the baobab canopy.
