Tea, sea
and safari

A verdant teardrop of tea plantations, golden coasts, UNESCO World Heritage sites and thick wildlife-loaded jungles, Sri Lanka has it all for both the adventure seekers and Indian subcontinent newcomers.

Often considered to be its neighbour in miniature, Sri Lanka holds the same wonders as India but on a smaller, more manageable scale. With an easy-going pace and cosier distances (as well as its own unique personality), it’s the perfect place to dip toes into a  world of diverse culture and, of course, wildlife – with  a splash of beachy idling to top things off.

Begin by venturing inland to explore the ruins of two of Sri Lanka’s former capitals before heading further south to the leafy Hill Country. Spend time learning about the journey from tea leaf to cup, before embracing the wild side on a guided safari with the chance to spot the likes  of leopards and Asian elephants. The trip ends with blissful seclusion on an idyllic, palm-fringed beach.
