St Lucia
From soaring Pitons to the swathes of revellers that turn out for the annual jazz festival, St Lucia’s exuberant culture and captivating aesthetics could both metaphorically and physically outdo the kraken in size.

A teardrop gem in the Caribbean island necklace, St Lucia is a hearty creole pot of five-star resorts, banana and cocoa plantations, verdant rainforests and vibrant local art; complemented by a generous serving of luxury and tranquillity. Unlike most the of easy-going islands, this lively lady encourages a bit of exploration with her relaxation, inviting a twin centre on both vertical ends of the compass.
Home to capital Castries, the north beckons with butterscotch sands, rum-and-reggae street parties at Gros Islet and an eclectic choice of fine dining experiences. While those seeking serenity and seclusion head to the south west near artsy and independent Soufrière – home of the mineral-rich mud baths at Diamond Falls.
In pursuit of…
The only sovereign nation named after a woman, it seems almost planned that Mother Nature chose to bestow this island with such natural beauty and grace. The three-walled rooms and sweeping terraces of the resorts don’t do this spectacle justice though. To really get a sense of the nature that defines her, getting out and about is a must; from sunrise Piton hikes and zip-lining through the forest for the adrenaline junkies, to sunset horse rides and leisurely snorkelling for the more faint of heart.
