The Florida Keys are calling

  • Bridge across the water in Florida Keys
Miami Beach – Marathon – Florida Keys – Key West

The Florida Keys
are calling

Far beyond the thrills and spills of the theme parks lies a world of diamond-clear waters, surprisingly culture-rich towns and the ultimate ‘come as you are’ mindset.

Affectionately (and officially) known as the ‘Conch Republic’, and the former home of writers, designers and even presidents, life is more than just sun-drenched in the Florida Keys. After a day exploring the nooks of Miami Beach and corners of the Everglades, a love of the sea is nurtured off the shores of Marathon’s blissful beaches.

Some downtime is on the agenda on a private island, only punctured by a bit of history at the galleries and gardens. All before the lively streets and famous sunsets of Key West become the cherry on top.

Where you’ll be going

Get to know where you'll be exploring in Florida, from Miami's Art Deco streets to Key West's sunset vistas.

  • Pink and green art deco building in Miami
    Miami

Two worlds collide in Miami. Vibrant and cosmopolitan, the Art Deco streets of the main city drift languidly into their more chilled out island counterparts in Miami Beach. All of it sandwiched between glistening ocean and the bio-rich mangroves and marshes of the Everglades.

    Stay at: W South Beach
  • Boat jetty and yachts on the water in Marathon Florida Keys
    Marathon

Only established in 1999, Marathon carries a youthful charm. It’s all about the ocean here, so time is pleasantly lost to all sorts of water sports. Even on land the sea reigns – the Turtle Hospital warms hearts with their rehabilitation ethos and local restaurants serve seafood that has practically come from the doorstep.

  • Bridge across the water in Florida Keys
    Florida Keys

A jumble of around 1,700 little islands, the Florida Keys are almost more beach than soil. Each key has its own vibe and it’s easy to islet-hop to find the right fit. Whether it be lazing on blanket-soft sand all day, exploring different dive sites or finding the best place to dance the night away.

Stay at: Little Palm Island Resort & Spa
  • Yachts anchored in a marina on the Florida Keys
    Key West

The most southerly point of America is a happy-go-lucky one. A former haunt of Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, not much has changed since their heyday. The nightlife still sparkles, the food still tantalises tastebuds and, most importantly, the idyllic landscape is still a thing of beauty.

Tour and taste the Keys' rum scene.

A beachside beverage staple, head to one of Key West’s rum distilleries to discover the area’s historic love of the spirit. From private tastings in a former saloon at Key West Legal Rum to cocktail classes and on-site bottling at The Hemingway Rum Co.’s Papa’s Pilar Rum Distillery.

    • Sailboat crusing out at sunset in Key West
      Sail into the sunset.

Experience Key West’s famous sunsets from an uninterrupted vantage point on the deck of a sailboat. Accompanied by a refreshing glass of wine of course.

    • Fort Jefferson from the air at Dry Tortugas National Park
Venture over the waves to Dry Tortugas National Park.

Sitting about 65 miles from Key West, a visit to Dry Tortugas National Park is only achieved via boat or seaplane. The sparkling sandbanks and imposing Civil War-era Fort Jefferson make it worth the effort though.

    • Seafood platter with prawns crab and scallops
Sample some of the finest seafood in the region.

Bordered by the ocean from all angles, fresh seafood is never far away in the Florida Keys. From the famous pink shrimp, yellowtail snapper and stone crab to more far-flung delicacies like ceviche and sushi.
