A traditional mountain village deep in the Haute-Savoie with a warm welcome and lively outlook.
Tasteful chalets and congenial hotels rub shoulders with laid-back bars, buzzing après-ski venues and enticing restaurants in the pretty village of La Clusaz. While skaters show off on the 1,000m2 covered ice rink, the wild at heart try their hand at snow scooting and ice driving.
Perfect for families and short breaks, fast transfers of roughly an hour from Geneva Airport whisk both skiers and non-skiers to the heart of the action. Enjoy dog sledding, tobogganing, paragliding, ice skating, sleigh rides, winter walks and snowshoeing or take a day trip to the beautiful medieval lakeside village of Annecy, only 30 minutes drive away.
Five interlinked and pleasantly varied ski areas comprise 125km of slopes with slope-side dining encompassing rustic mountain restaurants serving traditional Savoyard fare and international specialities. From the village, the Beauregard gondola ascends to the delightful nursery slopes, while more accomplished skiers can tackle blues and reds amidst the wooded slopes at Manigod and L’Etale or enjoy an energetic anti-clockwise ski circuit of the whole area in one day. Across the valley there are some steeper runs – the gullies and bowls of Balme being ideal for off-pisting with a guide. Buses also link to Le Grand Bornand for a further 83km of ski challenges included on the Massif des Aravis lift pass.
Located on the north west flank of the Aravis massif, the resort has a good snowfall record and is host to a qualification round in the Freeride World Tour.
