Carved into a cliff on the island’s north coastline, Acro Wellness Suites informs of its precarious position in its name – literally meaning ‘edge’ in Ancient Greek. There are nothing but advantages to its location though. The elevation gives the illusion of rejuvenating isolation despite the sister hotel nearby. But the best benefits are the uninterrupted sea views from every room that bring an airiness to the otherwise cosy cave-like suites. Effortlessly and ethically blending into its surroundings, the overall aesthetic is earthy and organic; from the chiselled-out walls of the healing spa to the pebbles fashioned into taps. Think the Flintstone’s Bedrock but moodier and far more chic. For all of its rocky exterior though, there’s a feminine touch that softens, courtesy of the designers – the owner’s daughters. Including glass ceiling showers, cocoon loungers looking out to sea and a reflective selfie cube angled just right.
Outside the perfectly-private sanctuaries, all roads lead to the pool – lagoon-style rimmed with cushions to sink into. This is where the social butterflies congregate, tapping their feet to live music that floats through the bar and clean-eating-focused Cremnos restaurant. All this centres around a mirrored obelisk. A relic from World War II, the part was kept to prove that an object from a turbulent past can be transformed into something beautiful at the heart of a place defined by its peaceful charm.
