In this legendary abode of ‘peaceful spirits’, created to imbue a sense of calm serenity, statue-lined walkways are flanked by lush scented gardens, and decorative gateways lead to luxury suites enclosed in private walled courtyards. Accommodation is based on terrace or duplex design – the latter feature four poster beds adorned with Kamasan-style painting and all suites boast a large sunken marble bath in an outdoor garden setting. Eleven, including the sumptuous Amandari Suite, come with a private swimming pool.
The dual-level Verandah Restaurant serves Indonesian and Western cuisine as unforgettable as the views over the gorge – a vista which many also be contemplated from The Bar. Linger by the pool into the evening and you will be royally entertained by local gamelan players. It is no wonder the Balinese believe that the path through Amandari is sacred ground. In addition to succumbing to the many soothing treatments in the health and fitness centre, guests may also partake in floodlit tennis, white-water rafting and mountain bike tours whilst a memorable experience awaits those who take a personal guided tour of the area’ tranquil lakes and sacred temples.
A spiritual place
Amndari means 'peaceful spirits' and this name is spot on. Locals from Kedewatan village close by have walked through thegrounds of the hotel for centuries on their way to a pool of holy water that is home to three shrines.
