A pinnacle of privacy for the deep-pocketed looking to escape from it all; this paparazzi-free playground invites the elite to throw on the flip-flops, discover new skills, and let their authentic selves roam free.
The fully staffed Great House atop Devil's Hill houses eleven beautifully furnished bedrooms and a sleepover-friendly bunkhouse. While the ten additional Balinese houses allow the whole place to accommodate up to 48 guests in total. An ideal venue for a special occasion to share with friends and family, the island can be hired exclusively, with guests being looked after by a team of 90 staff to take care of every need. Couples aren’t left out though; there are select weeks throughout the year when individual rooms can be booked. In a place where even the champagne is all-inclusive, meals are definitely a highlight and tailored to suit personal tastes. Anything from breakfast on the terrace to elegant candlelit dinners, are served whenever requested. There’s even a floating sushi bar in the beach pool.
Time here is to do with as anyone pleases. While some swim laps in the 135 foot long freshwater pool and hit up the gym or tennis courts, others enjoy the array of water sports. Like kayaking, kite surfing, snorkelling, or sailing to neighbouring islands. There are video, music and book libraries for a quiet afternoon, before the party gets going with a performance by a local calypso band. And entertaining the children is taken care of too with the likes of treasure hunts and a lemur experience.
We all know Necker Island – or at least we think we do. Richard Branson’s bucket-list hideaway attracts renown from afar yet remains undisturbed in the North Sound. In reality, its ultra-luxe appeal lies in a home-away-from-home design, meaning you can leave the heels behind in favour of some good old fashioned family time… and have the island all to yourselves.
Birds of a feather really do flock together here – and we don’t just mean the flamingos and scarlet ibis. Though there’s much to enjoy, rounding up the relatives is all too easy when the Great House holds everyone comfortably close. Embracing the philosophy that a family who dines together, stays together, banquet tables beckon as evenings draw near. Find the whole group gathered to share a glass (or a few) to reminisce over the day’s events, before getting to do it all over again. On a private island takeover, it’s just another day in paradise.
