The Owners House, River House and Farm House are based within the Madikwe Game Reserve, while Ocean House and Beach Lodge sit within the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Each of the fashionably-furnished bush homes enjoys the services of a private guide and tracker, chef, butler, hostess and housekeeper – a nanny can be arranged as required. In the company of experienced guides, game drives are tailored to suit the family’s individual requirements – sip sundowners in the hide that overlooks a waterhole, cook up a storm with the chef or learn traditional drumming.
Madikwe Game Reserve - Massive volcanic intrusions, wide open plains and riverine habitats define Madikwe, a malaria-free area on the Botswana border. Here you’ll find the Morukuru private bush homes and the idyllic farmhouse retreat, with access to scores of mammals including the Big 5, a thriving wild dog population and resident and migrant bird species numbering over 300. Steeped in legend, Madikwe has a history dating back to the Stone Age.
De Hoop Nature Reserve - Three hours drive east from Cape Town, Ocean House and Beach Lodge sit alone, surrounded by vast swathes of fynbos and fronted by 51 kilometres of pristine beach punctuated with limestone cliffs and towering white sand dunes. A natural playground for both adults and children alike, The homes come with their own jeep and guide; there are caves to explore, marine walks, bush hiking, sand-boarding, mountain biking, flower safaris, rock pooling at low tide and some of the continent's best whale watching on the doorstep. From June to November, southern right whales migrate here to calve and nurse in the protected waters, and the spectacle is thrilling.
