Our luxury Croatia holidays mean stepping into history-steeped cities and sleepy villages, where life continues much as it did a century ago, the glittering Adriatic beckoning along the dramatic coast.

Here, life moves at an unhurried pace – the warm, dry Mediterranean summers inviting visitors to over five thousand kilometres of coastline. In Dubrovnik, orange-hued roofs are enlivened by the sun’s rays, creating a vibrant contrast against the azure waters of the Adriatic. Encircled in its medieval limestone walls which surge dramatically from the sea, labyrinthine alleys and piazzas are alive with the buzz of outdoor life. Cosmopolitan cafés spill out onto the pavements of Placa Street, where glasses of the local plum brandy flow.

Set sail from the south, passing medieval Korcula; the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo, brimming with folkloric tradition. Hvar sits just above, one of Europe's most beautiful islands - a sophisticated hideaway reminiscent of St Tropez. Sleek yachts dot the harbour, nestling in the embrace of attractive Romanesque churches, palaces and villas.

Heading further north, the luscious greenery of Losinj rises from glistening blue waters, its position as a popular island destination enriched by a picturesque charm, enchanting at every corner. Such scenery continues to the top of the Adriatic, where Rovinj marries old and new on the edge of the mainland. A town Italianate in design, its narrow, cobbled streets take inspiration from across the water. And though well-worn walkways appear frozen in time, fresh legs continue to wander in the shadow of the St Euphemia Cathedral, welcomed with open arms into a bountiful blend of culture.
