Luxury ski & snow

  • Luxury Ski & Snow, Aerial of skiers

For the serious slope-skimmers, dedicated après-skiers, and the winter wonderland wanderers in-between.

For the serious slope-skimmers, dedicated après-skiers, and the winter wonderland wanderers in-between.

Warming hands on a cup of vin chaud snuggled inside a candlelit mountain hut. The rush of nailing that tricky black piste. Welcome and well-deserved cheese feasts on solarised terraces backed by twinkling peaks. The swell of pride watching rosy-cheeked little ones glide down the nursery slopes. Everyone’s definition of a winter holiday is different, so the destination matters.

Some ski resorts are renowned for their pristine snow, extreme conditions or diamond dust powder. Attractive to the likes of the seasoned aficionados who flock to Vail’s 5,000 acres, the enthusiastic hobbyists taking on Val d’Isère’s slopes, and the leisurely cruisers escaping the crowds in a lesser-known alpine hideaway.

Others, however, call out to the glamorous slope evaders. The ones who want to get lost between the timber-accented buildings of traditional villages, test wobbly limbs on pretty ice rinks, or sip champagne and weave through designer shops. Some even bypass the resorts altogether, heading to the arctic circle to indulge in dog sledding, aurora spotting and seeking out Father Christmas.

The resort is only the beginning though, and whatever dalliance is on the cards it can’t be denied, there’s nothing quite like filling lungs with crisp air while the sun turns the ground to tinsel.
