While impressive snow records ensure a long season through to late April, it’s time away from the slopes that upholds the resort’s dynamic reputation. Spirited après-ski at mountain top La Folie Douce is a lively precursor to the energetic nightlife back down in the village. While – following a multi-million Euro renovation project – designer shops and Michelin-starred restaurants further enhance this ever-popular resort.
Then there are the winter activities, bold and exciting in their style, including BMW ice driving, ice skating, dog sledding, ice climbing, paragliding, tobogganing, cross country skiing, heli-skiing and snowmobiling.
The slopes and glaciers of Val d’Isère encompass over 300km of prime ski terrain with an enviable snow record, so there’s no wonder its full of dedicated clientele who return year after year. While regarded as one of the best resorts for off-piste skiing, glorious high altitude slopes abound for all abilities. The wide crystal boulevards, moguls and challenging couloirs are perfect for experts and intermediates while first timers can quickly progress from the village nursery slopes to the dedicated beginner area at the top of the Solaise gondola.
